Greetings to all the Horsehead Lake folks. I am not a resident but have fond memories of Horsehead Lake. My Grandpa had a cabin at Horsehead Lake, his name was Stan Wazny (Saginaw). My dad, also named Stan (AKA, Mickey) was very often at the Lake. After his cabin was sold we would camp at the old campground. About two years ago I drove to Horsehead Lake for some ole'time flashbacks and to check out the campground for future campouts with my son.......oh my, its gone! I bout' got a lump in my throat. I just missed one last campout there by one year I was told. I'm sure residents find it better without the campground but as an outsider, trying to relive the past, it was pretty sad to discover it gone. I remember driving through the long winding uphill road and pines to get to the old log cabin office at the campground. Waiting for the lady to give us the old glass fuse for our power hookup. I remember TeePee Isle, is the TeePee still there? I really thought Indians lived there. Ok, did they? I remember a big thunderstorm came through, must of been early 70's, and many of the boats at the marina were swamped and a few actually partially sank right there at the marina. Oh, and the candy at the marina store was always the best. I need to rent one of the cottages listed on your site to be able to float around and enjoy one more time! Enjoy your Lake! Mike Wazny

I remember the teepee!!
My grandpa built a cottage there on the lake, not sure what year but my family vacationed there in the 60s, all through the 70s to early 80s. We were only about four cottages down from the marina store and my brother and I used to go there all the time. It was sold sometime in the early 80s and I've been to the lake once since then, just to look around. I was surprised how close we were to the store; I remember it being such a long walk!! I sometimes wonder what happened to all the people there--there was a family across the road who lived in a trailer and had lots of kids, all with blond hair. And another boy that I think was from the Chicago area who was a couple houses down named Jimmy, and he and my brother and I used to play together sometimes.
Would love to go again to see all the changes. Good times!!
